DIGITAL GARMENTS, 2020
Digital Garments blends the physical and the virtual in a series exposing the female body, in some cases challenging its expectations. Silva uses digital processes to create a metallic layer of armour veiling the most intimate parts of the human body. With Silva’s models proudly and gracefully standing and stretching in the nude, the shadows, highlights, dips and curves of womanhood are emphasised with the use of digitalisation. In one instance, Silva’s digital garment fuses traditional concepts of what makes a man a man and what makes a woman a woman, playing, as she often does, with preconceived notions of the male and female body.
